Relaxing on Coastal Properties at Shellman Bluff
About the Community
On my discovery of more information about Shellman Bluff, I came across ExploreGeorgia.org. Their vivid description of this community and fish camp made me want to visit.
Shellman Bluff is a peaceful, picturesque fish camp village that retains its distinctive charm. Quaint, screened fishing cottages sit back among oaks festooned with Spanish moss. All the dirt roads of the quiet village seem to lead inevitably to the high bluff that overlooks the Broro and Julienton rivers. Winding along the edge of the high bluff is another sandy road that offers one of the best coastal views in Georgia. In the morning, the sun rises from behind Harris Neck, lighting the green marsh and dappling the tidal rivers while birds roost in distant hammock islands.
I can just envision the moss swaying in the salty breeze and the locals living the relaxed life with lawn chairs and barbecues as they take in the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Wouldn't you love to be a part of a community like this?
The area has so much history, too! The county seat is Darien, GA and was originally established by Scottish Highlanders as a military outpost in 1736. Fort King George is one of the historical sights that bring history to life with reenactments and education on what took place at the Fort. Shellman Bluff was a plantation operated by William Cooke. Just south you will find Sutherland Bluff and this was the location of shipbuilding activities during the Revolutionary War.
Shrimping is a big industry in the area and the season is always jump-started by one of the biggest festivals on the east coast. The Blessing of the Fleet offers food, arts and crafts, activities for kids, car show and live entertainment. More than 30,000 attend this annual festival which ends in a blessing over shrimp boat captains for a safe and prosperous season.
This coastal community is a short drive to Brunswick, GA which offers plenty of shopping centers and activities and just a few more miles will get you to the beaches of St Simons Island and Jekyll.
This area has some beautiful properties for sale. Some are located in the Shellman Bluff and Sutherland Plantation areas. The tracts I'm highlighting today are pine and hardwood plantations making them ideal for hunting and fishing. They are close to the deepwater and only a couple miles from the fish camp at Shellman Bluff. The versatility in these properties make them quintessential to the outdoorsmen and women looking for a private location to enjoy their outdoor and water sports.

About the Properties
These four properties range in size from 42 acres to 128 acres. All the properties have some pines that are pre-merchantable, in the 4-year-old range. Some of the pine plantations are merchantable and fall in the 16-year-old age range. The hardwoods run throughout the properties and create an optimal environment for wildlife. When looking at the flood zone it is apparent that only a small amount of the property is in that zone so the majority will be good ground.
So whatever your dreams are for owning a property in the coastal community, these versatile tracts can give you plenty of options. Invest, hunt, fish, build your getaway or dream home and become part of a growing community in the Shellman Bluff area.
